Living in a share house or with a partner or your family or just generally been known by the moniker Ms 1800-Dial-A-Party, I rarely make dinner for one. And usually when I do it’s a great moment to indulge in breakfast for dinner. But, more regularly now I have one night every fortnight or so where I get to make dinner for just one. So I’ve decided to showcase some of the things I eat when I’m alone and for one night only make them presentable for your viewing pleasure.
What you need:
1 kettle-boiled egg
Pasta for one
1/4 cup of shaved Parmesan
Drizzle of olive oil
Salt and Pepper
Let’s do This:
- Cook pasta as per packet instructions.
- Boil the egg in the kettle – here is are my instructions for that here – because it’s amazing
- Under cold running water peel the egg shell, it should be gooey and a little soft – or you could slightly over do it like I did!
- Once pasta is cooked, place egg on top and drizzle with olive oil (if it’s infused even better – mine was truffle infused) and the parmesan.
Sometimes I serve this with garlic bread a slice of bread smother in a mixture of butter and crushed garlic –yuuuuuuuuum
So dinner for one is the best because I usually am not patient enough to cook for long so dinner is ready in about 15 minutes – go forth and enjoy your me time.
This recipe one – der, it’s hard to price because of the portioning and the varying range of Parmesan cheese in Australia. So, priced at the most expensive pricing from the two major Australian supermarkets as at 19 September 2017 it will cost $4.00 a serve. I tend to have all the ingredients at all times so it’s pretty much free, so I feel weird by this maths, but hey, that’s maths, no wonder we cook bulk!
